Hi,
I have attached a video showing that motor J3 is not reversing. It will go forward but not backwards. When I click on the J3- it clicks and stops right away (shown on the video)
All the motors are working fine. The only issue I’m having is with Motor J3-
Here are the steps I took to solve this – but no luck
I changed the cable that was originally attached to Motor J3 to all other controls and it worked. Basically when I moved the cable from J3 motor to lets say J5 motor from the computer I pressed J5 +- and J3 motor worked. But when I took any of the other cables and attached it to Motor J3 those didn’t work.
I checked all the cables and connections, and all are good
Since I saw that the direction – of the Motor J3 is the one giving problems, I used the two cables (step = 12 and direction = 13) from the optional driver #7, and afterwards I modified the teensy software (so that J3 had step = 12 & direction = 13) still didn’t work.
I put a new stepper driver for the J3 Motor and still didn’t work.
After all these, I believe it might be a software control (ARCS J3 direction -) issue because no matter what driver or motor I use the J3 direction – is not sending signal as the video shows.
Another email will follow shortly.
Thank you
Alejandro
Yes that shouldn't be a problem to run 24 hours.
Starting with the first problem: J3 only moving one direction, when you use the jog joint buttons - when you press the jog - or jog +, which direction does the joint move? do both buttons make it move the same direction? or does only one button work?
Thank you so much for your answer.
I already checked all the wiring and it is fine. I have been trying to calibrate the robot for two weeks without success, besides the issue with the J3 motor I found more problems:
1- none of the limit switches seems to work, when I jog any of the joints I press the limit switch and the robot keeps going.
2- everytime I am going to calibrate a joint once I click the calibrate button the join only moves like 15 degrees and then it stops without even activating the limit switch and then it shows "calibration successful"
3- also notice that the 6 joints are moving in the opposite direction so even if the calibration would be working fine the limit switches would be in the opposite side(I guess with this issue it is just a matter of reversing the phases of each motor)
I am really frustrated I already disassembled the robot twice to check for wiring errors but everything is ok, I did continuity check for each cable so is not a wiring issue!
The issue that I mentioned in the post about j3- not working I saw the it only works if I click the j3+ like 40 degrees away from the rest position.
So anyways I will keep trying cause I really like this project and I actually want to put it to work in one of the lines for the company I work for.
Thanks so much again !
i feel your problem from signal cable between teensy-j3 stepper motor driver. please check there. please check is it connect to correct pin, and connection established as expected. cause u can move 1 direction sucessfully but not the others.
