I was going to ask the same question as I am going to upgrade my partially completed AR2 to an AR3 and also have the 7th track parts to build. Seems to me it would be ok to use that part with or without encoding depending on application. I like the teknic servo motor but $257...ouch.....:)
A super great solution is to Teknic servo motor!! It has a built-in encoder also the coolest feature is auto homing to a hard stop. And if that wasn't enough the motor is totally software programmable!! I use the smallest of the NEMA 23 servos and it has tons of power to spare moving my large 30" reach track.
Thanks Werner, It looks fantastic!

Any chance of posting a video of it in action?

I will be working on that but I don't have a timeline yet on a closed loop 7th axis.
