Hi Everyone, following are my questions and observations kindly give your thoughts:
1. Nothing is moving when i hit upon J1 & J5 button in AR2 Software. I checked power supply and it is ok.
2. J2, J3, J4 and J6 all are moving in 1 direction only.
3. J1 driver starts blinking Red when i connect my laptop and AR2. Without these connections Red light doesn't come. What could be the reason?
4. After pressing Limit Switch, i am not getting Dark LED light(not even Dim light) as suggested by @Chris Annin in Troubleshooting manual. LED light doesn't get dark for any of the 6 switches. Where could be the problem?
5. In the "Calibration" window under AR 2.0 software, Motor Direction Output should be "111011". Please clarify.
6. In Limit Switch pins i am getting following DC voltages: 5 in top pin and 2.35 in other two middle pins. Please verify if this is ok?
Also i request @Chris Annin and others to make at least 1 video covering various troubleshooting issues.
Thanks
Im copying into this thread the response I sent to your email so others may follow if they have similar issues.
1. Nothing is moving when i hit upon J1 & J5 button in AR2 Software. I checked power supply and it is ok.
if you are getting j2,3,4,6 to move then the problem with J1 and J5 is certainly easier to solve. Its typically always wiring issues and not getting connections at the driver jumpers. this is where I personally have had the most issues. start by using a meter to check to be absolutely sure every driver terminal is getting 5vdc from the string of red jumpers. check continuity on every other wire to the arduino. double check every motor wire and every wiring harness connector. to help trouble shoot swap the plug from J1 motor to J2 motor and see if jogging J2 makes J1 move. lastly try swapping drivers to see if drivers are the issue.
2. J2, J3, J4 and J6 all are moving in 1 direction only.
again check wiring. this is almost always the driver is not getting the direction input. Ive had this happen many times.
3. J1 driver starts blinking Red when i connect my laptop and AR2. Without these connections Red light doesn't come. What could be the reason?
Im not sure on this one - I havnt seen it before. I could assume that when you connect your laptop the arduino comes on and is providing 5vdc to the wrong terminal perhaps? make sure 5vdc is going to the proper terminals
4. After pressing Limit Switch, i am not getting Dark LED light(not even Dim light) as suggested by you in Troubleshooting manual. LED light doesn't get dark for any of the 6 switches. Where could be the problem?
given your question 7 i think you have a wiring issue
5. As soon as i connect my laptop with Arduino i get orange light on Arduino.
I believe this is normal. the arduino does get a light that comes on.
6. In the "Calibration" window under AR 2.0 software, Motor Direction Output should be "111011". Please clarify.
leave these at default - it just reverses the direction of the motor for someone that makes a custom robot - for example they choose to mount the motor on the right side of the arm instead of the left and clockwise rotation is up instead of down. this just gives people options.
7. In Limit Switch pins i am getting following DC voltages: 5 in top pin and 2.35 in other two middle pins. Please verify if this is ok?
your switch should supply the arduino pin a gnd signal when the switch is not made and then supply the arduion 5vdc when the switch is made. get a meter and check that each switch output to arduino is gnd and then 5vdc when switch is tripped.
please let me know how your troubleshooting goes.
thanks,
Chris
