@ruizvial I bought the module (PCB including the encoder chip). But I haven’t built my AR2. I ordered all necessary components two weeks ago. I believe I will have difficulties on assembling the arm.. so wait for my updates!

purchased 6 of them and they arrived yesterday. The magnets are quite fit. Inserted into the back of stepper motors. They talk through TTL RS485. I configured them with address 0x00 to 0x05. The angle reading are very nice. The aluminium arm kit arrived too. i hope I could hook them up in this week.

To me it is easier to install the encoder along with the stepper motor. BTW the absolute angle value of TLE5012 is up to 32768 (15-bit). And it costs ~USD30! Other choices are AS5048A (14-bit ~USD15) and AS5600 (12-bit ~USD8). I will evaluate them later.

True. Most of ROS compatible arms cost much more. Only the servo-based arms are affordable but they look like toys..

@Chris Annin I agree. The fake controller trick is not designed to work like that. However it works and to me this is quite good for stepper motor based robot arm, without joint position feedback.

@Chris Annin I checked the moveo ROS implementation again. Seems no problem to me to communicate the firmware move_j code from ROS node. I can't wait to build mine and test it! I believe sourcing the parts locally (in Hong Kong) would take forever. Therefore, I've just placed the order (both hardware kit and aluminum kit) from your online store. Good job Chris.

@Chris Annin So the control through ROS is not yet completed, right? I might be able contribute from my experience from moveo ros. BTW will there be a new version of AR2 soon?
