Hi Chris/all, I've hit a weight limit with Axis 3 (it is skipping steps). I'm looking at ways to reduce the total load by changing out tools but tomorrow I'm going to check if I can swap out the J3 Nema 17 motor with a J2 Nema 23 motor for some extra oompf. I've done some quick measurements and at first glance it seems like a nema 23 might fit the frame but wanted to run it by you before I dig into too much. Does this seem like a reasonable idea? And do you know if there is clearance for the Nema 23 motor? PS: As an update I have finished installing the AR2 upside down (inverted). It has been hanging for a few days now and is doing great. I had to flip some of the motor directions as you mentioned but it went off pretty damn smooth all things considered. Will post some more information later. P.S.S: I've also run it at a higher amperage which I will experiment with further tomorrow. It gets a bit more power but have you experimented with increasing the amp's over the specified?

Hi Chris, I'm thinking of extending the J2 arm. As I'm hanging it it should reduce the weight so I am hoping that the motor can handle the additional strain from the increase in length. Before I start work on it, I wanted to check in with you to get your feedback. GamePlan: I am going to start with the model for the J2 arm and extend the middle section so I keep the existing dimensions for the existing motors. I am also considering trading out the chain with a timing pulley & belt and potentiality adding in 1 or 2 tensioners. 1) Am I right that you would update the variable in the "Calibration" tab for "DH a-2 (link length") with the increased J2 length and that would then flow through the software? 2) If I am inverting the robot how much concern would you have about hitting the strength/holding limit for the J2 motor? 3) And are there any tips that you think might be of help to approaching it? Thanks as always!

Hi Chris, Huge fan of your work and have been working hard on making some updates to the robot. You have mentioned in a few posts different upgrades you are working on for the AR2 (bigger motors & a bigger version). It would be really interesting to hear a roadmap of what you are working on and a (very) rough time line of when they might be completed. If your not comfortable sharing all good! Best, Paul

Hi there, Looking at hanging the AR2 upside down. Is it possible by default? And if not, what should I look at modifying? Thanks again for all your help!

Hey, I am having problems opening the 2.0 Arduino sketch. I've tried it on a Mac and Windows with no luck: "Could not create sketch". Anyone have a workaround/solution? Cheers, Paul (FYI v1.5 opens without a hitch)

So I'm buying all the supplies so I can start assembling the robot when it gets here however I'm a bit stuck on the gripper. It looks like a pneumatic gripper is the way to go however I'm less clear on 1) What do you put on the end of them? I'm assuming you'd want a rubber/flexible material so that it can apply more pressure evenly? (And if so, where do you buy them) 2) There seem to be two kinds (angular and parallel). What are the trade offs between these two type? 3) This is probably the biggest one I'm struggling with. For the air supply, can I get away with a regular air compressor that I have in the tool shop or is there a specific style/type I should purchase? 4) Finally! Is there a source (website, youtube channel, etc.) that anyone would recommend I visit to learn more? Thank you for any help you might provide! Best, Paul
