About Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo León

Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo León leverages our AR4 robotic arm to enhance their engineering curriculum, under the guidance of Professor Jesús Romero. The institution’s renowned Bachelor of Manufacturing Engineering program, offered through its School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, educates expert engineers capable of analyzing and solving complex manufacturing process problems. This comprehensive program builds a robust foundation in designing, integrating, and managing technology projects, with a focus on optimizing automated production systems and applying stringent quality standards. Students develop a holistic skill set, from self-learning strategies and mastery of information technologies to interpersonal skills and a firm commitment to ethical practices. The curriculum is designed to produce graduates who are not only proficient in applying scientific and technological research methods but are also prepared to meet the demands of the modern labor market in fields such as process engineering, quality departments, and lean manufacturing. By integrating a forward-thinking approach with a solid technical education, Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo León prepares industry-ready professionals dedicated to innovation, quality, and fulfilling the evolving needs of society and technology.

Introduction to Autonomous Robotics

In ROB 101, students get hands-on from day one. Each team builds and commissions their own AR4 robot. The curriculum centers on a semester-long project where students program their AR4 to autonomously navigate a mock factory floor, pick up raw materials from a conveyor belt, and assemble them into a simple product. This project teaches the entire robotics pipeline from kinematics to sensor integration and task sequencing.
How is the AR used in ths course?
The AR4 is the perfect platform for our intro course. Its DIY nature forces students to understand the mechanical system, not just the code. The affordability means we can run a lab with 20 units simultaneously, and the 6-axis industrial design gives students authentic experience that directly translates to real-world automation careers.
What this Course Covers:
Key Concepts Taught
  • Forward Kinematics
  • Inverse Kinematics
  • Trajectory Planning
Key Concepts Taught
  • Python for Robotics
  • Pick and Place Operations
  • System Integration
