Hi,

Im trying setup travel railes using nema 17 with 1000mm long ball screw shaft. I'm tested jog the track and it move. However it move very-very short distance. I'm check through user manual and forum and there is no any reference can explain how it work. Chris, you have any commend or instruction for make travel track move as expected?

To make things clear, i explain how i work: 1. Set track length (in my case, 1000mm)

2. set track step limit (you need trial and error, multiply 10100xn) so that you when you jog track physically it move distance as you expected

3. press save calibration data

4. try jog 100mm

5. and measure it

If you can't get accurate result, repeat from step 1 (I don't know the reason, but both 1 and 2 you need to play till it look nice).

Did you check your microstep settings on your stepper driver? What setting is it on?

Travel rail driver follow J1 driver setting at the moment, which exactly follow your user manual (off,on,on,on,off,on,on,on).

I did refer the stepper driver documentation and make several changes on the jumper, all show same result. Beside, I can't feel the motor having higher temperature compare to others motor (J1-J6)

* I'm using DM542 (No 'T'), cause local market don't have this DM542T. I'm checked the documentation seems DM542 having same configuration with DM542T.

I hope problem not come from last DM542 driver.

Hi, i switch back the cable, close ARCS, and reopen it. It seems work longer distance. I will continue trouble shoot why it happen. I notice few times ARCS.py need once a while close down and reopen, else it have abnormal behaviour like this issue, another is run program significant slow.

Thanks help Chris!

Hi Kstan, I'm not Chris and to prevent further confusion I renamed my account.

As far as I can see your stepper settings are correct but It still seems to me there's something wrong with the steps. With you current settings moving 1000 steps the motor should rotate 2.5 turns and the motor is definitely not doing that.

Can you switch the connectors with the J1 driver just to rule out something is wrong with the driver you are currently using?

I think problem solved, to make program run stable I need to follow sequence: 1. set track length

2. save calibration data

3. close and reopen python program
