Changes to AR4 and PDF 2D drawings
If we look at the AR4-MK3 STL files for the J2 Turret Housing and the J1 Turret Platform, they don't match the PDF 2D drawings which are only available on the original AR4 page.
Will these 2D drawings ever be updated to match the newer models?
For example I notice that the J1 Turret Platform is now wider than the one for the AR3. The J2 Turret Housing is now offset from the one for the AR3. Yet the drawings still show more mounting holes and a curved cutout rather than flat.
After a few years absence I've restarted my project and I'm wondering if the software will also reflect the shift in position of the J2 ARM.
Hello, A few years back I did share the 2D drawing files. The license for the files and project are open source non commercial, but given the high number of counterfeiters violating the project, and re-selling the AR4 robot and its machined parts for profit - I no longer share the drawing files. The shift in the J1 Turret Platform was a correction to bring the robots center line to the correct position and the software kinematics do reflect this correction. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

It's sad that people revert to doing that. I've been lucky. I made the software and drawings, for my Metal Lathe Electronic Lead Screw project, open source back in about 2008. No one copied that but I suspect many of the other ones out there used a lot of what was in the code to develop Arduino based units now using cheap parts from the far east.
Sadly it's not that hard to reverse engineer many things nowadays. \ I made this screen grab small enough that dimensions are blurred if someone zooms in on it.
What you can't read on it are a copyright for your company and a do not copy or use for commercial products. And I don't plan on giving it to anyone anyway.
What a coincidence. Just as I'm about to mill the profile and centre hole for the J2MotorSupport you've come out with a modification that doesn't require taking the gearbox apart.
Unfortunately the MK4 zip file doesn't have the updated J2MotorSupport although it does have the two spacers.
And of course as you stated earlier you aren't releasing the drawings anymore. But any chance you might make an exception so I can redo the G-Code?

I 3D printed the AR4-MK4 J2MotorSupport brackets. Turns out the AR4 J2 motor reduction drive is larger diameter and longer but has a thicker plate mounting to the motor so it won't fit with the AR3 J2 motor or J2MotorSupport.
So back to CAD and recreated the two brackets and the J2MotorSupport with the correct diameter hole for the AR3 motor.
Mounting will still have to be done with the longer screws (50mm) and washers to set the spacing. I've ordered screws. I've redone my G-Code to mill out the rest of the J2MotorSupport to match the 3D printed version.
Doesn't look like I can post STL files here but if anyone is interested I can do that. Likely not too many people are making their own metal parts anymore anyway. Especially AR3 since even the motors now have a minimum 5 pieces order.
