I often run a program after orienting the AR4 and it makes a movement relative to it's current location, not to the absolute position in the MoveJ command. Do I have this wrong? Do MoveJ commands just move the arm by the degrees in the MoveJ parameters?

I saw that earlier you published the AR2 Control Software in GitHub. Is there any specific reason you decided to switch to publishing the latest Control Software (AR4), its sources, and updates on your website (in Downloads section) and not in GitHub, which would allow more community contributions?

is possible to build this arm by just buying CAD FILES doing cnc machining and steppers from online and another parts sourcing locally , has anyone done like this.

I’ve been exploring ways to control the AR4 Mk3 arm using G-code, but I’m running into a challenge. I’m not always in the lab with access to the physical robot, and it seems the only option right now is to convert and upload to the SD card. Without the robot connected, I can’t figure out how to convert and run the G-code on the virtual robot.

Is there a way to do this?

Am designing a custom arm like the ar4 with the same electronique etc … the only difference is in the size and the joint distance

I was asking if i can easy modifiy in the control software to get it work or i should do more work , am not expert in this field

I'm building my first AR4 MK3 and pretty comfortable with the electronic part, but lack knowledge on best practices regarding mechanical fit of bearings.

Here is the context : To assemble the J1 and J2 joints I have a slightly loose fit between the bearing parts and the housing & axis. So I bought loctite 648 to prevent the bearing races from moving or rotating within the housing. Before assembling I double checked how to assemble and notice there are screws meant to place tension on the bearings. Which I understand if the bearing are pressed but I don't know how it will be affected by using loctite.

To illustrate and ease the exchange I have drafted the attached diagram to illustrate the 4 places I intended to place loctite. 1 & 4 being between the bearing and the axis, 2 & 3 being between the bearing casing and the external housing.

So my question based on that is, should I

  • glue all of the bearings and screws will still have an effect ?
  • glue all of the bearings and not place the screws ?
  • glue all but not n° 1 and 4 and use screws to tension but risk friction if it moves ?(given the loose fit it will probably)

... any advice on best practice ?
